I can't believe it's been about a month since I've written. But we've been busy. Doing Christmas things. Loving this time of year with our two wide-eyed-wonders. Some of my favorites over the past few weeks!
Did I fall in love with this Christmas card first, then coordinate their outfits to match the card? Maybe. Did I find the card, coordinate their outfits, take their photo, get them printed, addressed, and mailed all in the same day? Sure did. (That was only possible with the help of Daddy though!)
Merry Christmas from the Buckinghams.
Jammied Babies.
I very much enjoy seeing these two together. And especially in their jam-jams. :)
This was not posed! I walked in on them and this is what I saw!
A little Dwight Shrute hair going on here. :)
Their Christmas pajamas this year.
Our tradition of opening a new pair of winter pajamas to wear while we decorate for Christmas.
(I got Breck's jammies on clearance last winter, and Mom got Adelaide these sweet jammies this year... funny how closely they go together. Both of their reindeers have green and white striped scarves on.)
I also really enjoy seeing these two together...
Oh, the many faces of Adelaide Pearl. :) This one in particular is her contemplative one.
And this one? Well, we call it her "surprised" or "deer in headlights" look... She does it when she first focuses in on someone, and it's usually always followed up by a big smile that consumes her.
Wait for it.
Wait.
Bam. There's that smile!
Oh, Christmas Tree.
I was on a Christmas high when we decided to put up our old Christmas tree at the top of our steps! I've always had a thing for homes that had more than one tree up... and I'm loving the view from our front door!
Christmas tree sans skirt! Ooops!
Anytime we're out driving around at night, Breck says "Teees! Petty! Ooooo! More! Dada, more!" It's so cute! He's so into the lights this year, the trees, the colors, the sparkle. I love the way both of the kid's eyes light up when they see lights! It's unforgettable.
Sister grabbed her a handful-o'-beads while I was snapping away...
Oh. my. stars... I love the way her hair flips up in curls after a bath!
And that look says "I'm about to give you the biggest smile in my life"
BrettRyan and I agree that these jammies are just irresistible on her. They are the favorite around here. Mamaw really knows what's cute... she picked out both of her Christmas jammies!
Grammy + Mommy + Norman Baking Days.
Last year... THIS happened.
Grammy and Mommy have colorful fantasies of Christmas plates scattered here and there piled with menageries of Christmas cookies and treats of all shapes, textures, flavors, and colors. We have what's called NRED, which stands for Normal Rockwell Expectation Disorder. We have these picture perfect images in our heads of how things should be, and the way things could happen, and quite often are we let down by these picture perfect paintings in our heads, although sometimes they also do come through for us... sometimes. Like last year, Norman showed up and was proud of our accomplished baking day. (Last year, we also had a Daddy and Poppa to help watch our little munchkin.) This year, we didn't quite come out with the twelve types of treats cooling on the dining room table like last year, but considering the fact that we had TWO little munchkins to watch by ourselves AND baked all day... we were successful... and we ended up with two munchkins who survived the day and three different tasty treats. I think in the years to come we'll need Poppa and Daddy to make our twelve treat days a success again. Or just let the babies join in... and consider whatever we got done - a success, and kick Norman out. We're making memories.
And this year... this happened. :)
Grammy and Mommy were cracking up, but they just sat staring at us like this.
Their faces saying, Really?
Ornaments from Mamaw and Papaw!
I remember my Grandma Adams always giving us a collection of Precious Moments every year we turned older... and eventually we had this train of five or six Precious Moment cars that made up a birthday train. Mamaw and Papaw are continuing the tradition of collections and have started the Hallmark Christmas Ornament Collection with all of the grandbabies! I love the kids' ornaments this year! So precious!
Hanging his own ornament!
You can see where Breck hung his ornament, and where Mama repositioned. :)
Breck calling Mamaw to thank her for his ornament.
You can barely see the phone between his ear and shoulder. :)
This kid cracks us up.
Seeing Santa.
We've decided that we're not going to make a big deal out of Santa at our house. Our kids will know the the real reason why Christmas is Christmas, which is what we are choosing to focus on, but that doesn't mean that we can't participate in a little Santa fun too!
Going to see Santa last year... crazy how much my baby has grown!
WOW! He looks so much less "baby" this year!
And now we have TWO to sit on Santa's lap! Unbelievable!
Awe struck by the larger than life Christmas decorations in the mall!
Getting ready to see Santa.
The pep talk...
The reward... strait from Santa, himself.
Christmas calls for:
Bath-time-Christmas style, Christmas tree napkins,
and homemade peppermint play-doh with red glitter!
Christmas also calls for re-connecting with good friends, and meeting first-time ones.
Miss Holly, and Juliet made time to stop by for lunch while they were visiting from California!
These two lovelies live all the way across the country from each other. Laidey in Michigan and Juliet in California. They were born exactly one week and one minute apart from each other!
Looking forward to a Merry 2011 Christmas this weekend...
we've got lots of family and memories coming up! Can't wait!!!
I love having a real life baby doll.
