[ catching up + 37 & 38 weeks ]

Cottage Summer 2011

This summer... something that started as a joke turned reality when we found ourselves vacationing with Grammy and Poppa at a cottage on Long Lake for an entire week! We had a blast up there... sunning, napping, fishing, crocheting, reading, and playing. Here's the picture of our home away from home during the second week of August!

Boy, did the cottage deliver a view!

And I mean, a view! Beautiful sunrises and sunsets over the lake every day!

Breck's first experience in a boat! with Poppa (or as Breck would say, "Baapah")!
He definitely learned to say the word boat that week too! (Sounded more like "boa.")

Daddy, Breck, and Baapah!

He was more confident on the dock than the boat...

Luckily, Grammy is a professional cottage cook, seeing as how she watched her Mom do it, and has done it several times before... boy, does she know how to pack up her kitchen for a week and hardly overlook one detail. This Momma got to see what it's like first hand to plan a cottage menu and cook in someone else's kitchen. We enjoyed some yummy food that week!

Breck's favorite snack lately: cucumbers drizzled with a bit of balsamic vinaigrette dressing!

I love this picture. So candid.

Cute picture of Nana

Breck and I both experienced some major firsts that week! Firsts like, bathing in a lake! When Grammy first told me how much she loved bathing in a lake, I could not believe it! I just couldn't imagine feeling clean after an experience like that, but I was determined to do it, just to say I did it. I was shocked when I actually found myself enjoying it too! I will say, Breck was NOT a big fan. :)

So, lathered up we got!

More firsts like... touching fish! Right after he touched this fish he licked his fingers! Haha!

And who would have thought that I, of all people, would fall in LOVE with fishing!?!?! One morning, Grammy took me out on the boat and we had a ball fishing together! The bites were small, but they were nearly constant! Every time we reeled our lines in, we'd have to replenish the bait because it was just that busy out there! The worst part of everything was feeling the worm wiggle and tickle my palm as I tried to thread half of his amputated body onto the hook! Eeeek! Grammy was laughing hysterically watching my face as I hooked the worm! :) I am pretty proud of myself that I even took my own fish off the hook too! I'm kinda craving a fishing trip now that I'm reliving all of this on the blog!

One evening we even hooked the paddle boat up to the boat and
BR, Mom, and Dad, and I fished under the moonlight! So fun!

I can NOT get ENOUGH of these two photos! They are going in frames! For sure!

I am 99.9% sure he was saying "boa!" (boat) in this photo as a boat was passing! He absolutely loved watching all of the boats zoom by and he was almost always wave at the fellow cottagers!

Notice what she is doing? Mom and I felt like we spend 50% of our time cleaning up dishes or prepping the next meal. We didn't mind, but did conclude that the ultimate vacation where you literally relax 100% of the time would be to go to some all-inclusive resort where they take care of you! :) That's next on the list of vacas! :)
Somebody had a new look at the cottage! The strait strands were super cute!

I look like a huge... well, never-mind. All I'm gonna say is that I love this picture of my boys, but not of myself. It's the only family picture we got during the week, so I feel obligated to post. :)

Momma, Breck, and Laidey at 35/36 weeks!

Baapah caught a fishy off the end of the dock for little B!

I showed Breck ONE time how to "cheers!" and now he does it to everything... multiple times a meal. Or sucker, in this case!

This is hands down, absolutely one of my favorite faces of Breck.
That long O, baby bird, full-of-surprise face! Oooh it just makes me want to squeeze him!

Look at that dragonfly!

Tuinstra Reunion was the day after we got back into town... wanted to include this picture!
Pretty crazy I've been to this four years now, I think!

Funny how Breck looks like he's pulling so hard!

Just some of my favorite pictures and moments lately...

I do not know what it is about this hand motion that he does, but it just gets me every time he does it! And he does it all of the time. It's usually when he is concentrating... Just wanted to remember it, because I'm sure it's one of those things I could easily forget by the time he's a teenager.

This was my view at the reunion and it just made me laugh. :)

Love my two boys!

That white kite that I stamped on his face was so edible looking! Could've kissed it right off!

Looks just like his Daddy here to me...

He now understands what you mean by the words "let me take your picture"...
he's starting to pose and ham it up when he hears that phrase.

Just simply loving this pre-swimming, sunscreened hair cutie and his adorable facial expressions!

We "cheer" all of the time around our house... to everything, thanks to boyboy!

*I don't have a photo to go with this, but wanted to remember that lately Breck has been begging to see Papaw whenever he sees me open my computer. He points and repeatedly says pawpaw! pawpaw!  This has definitely initiated important Skyping appointments with Mamaw and Papaw! He's gonna be thrilled that getting a new little sister means that it will bring Mamaw and Papaw into town! :)

Thirty-Seven & Thirty-Eight Weeks Pregnant

So excited to meet my little girl, but not quite ready to share her with the world either. This pregnancy has just gone too fast! I remember about this time feeling the same way about Breck. So many different emotions going off, and lately I might cry at anything! Somehow, within the last week, she has flipped sides and now her back is on the right side of my stomach and feet and knees in the left. Last night I had my left arm down beside my stomach, and I literally felt her little foot or knee swipe the entire left side of my stomach. It felt just like she touched my arm, it was that strong! At my appointment on Thursday evening, Amy checked me and I am barely dilated, but I'm eighty percent effaced! That's huge! I was dilated, but wouldn't efface on my own when I had Breck. I'm so very interested to see how this labor will start! I loved the ability to plan and not rush that comes with being induced, but I'm secretly hoping for action and some serious surprise of my water breaking (at home hopefully!).

38 weeks with Breck...

38 weeks with Adelaide...

Little girl's room is complete, as of tonight... I'll take some pictures tomorrow and will post soon!

Man, it feels good to be caught up on here! Whew.
