[ thanksgiving times two ]

I made my first attempts at a pumpkin pie! I'm talking I made my own crust, trimmed it, and indented it with my own thumb and pointer finger! They both turned out pretty tasty, if I do say so myself!  While I was baking, I happened to notice that inside my carton of eggs was a verse. "This is the day the Lord has made..." It took me by surprise, first of all, that there was a verse in my egg carton. And second of all, because, just the day before I had mentioned I wanted to claim a verse for a particular area in my life that I'm sensing the Lord stretching me. I read this verse in a way I had never read it before! I remember saying this verse literally every day in my kindergarten class, but last week, I heard God saying it to me. It was as if God was saying, This, Amber, is the day that I have made. Not tomorrow. Not two months or even two years from now. This day. Today, rejoice and be glad in it. That's all you need to worry about. Trust me. (Kind of goes along with the other verse in the Bible where God encourages us to not worry about what tomorrow holds.) It couldn't have hit me smack in the face at a better time.

Sermon? Check. :)

Breck had two great first Thanksgivings! We were able to celebrate Thanksgiving, BrettRyan, and MomB's birthday the weekend before Thanksgiving. We started off with lunch at Mom and Dad's and had a delicious Thanksgiving dinner! Unfortunately Breck missed all the yummy food because he was too busy upstairs catching some Zzzzs and maybe even dreaming about his first Thanksgiving meal. After dinner BrettRyan and Mom opened birthday presents, while we enjoyed spending time together, and took turns signing the guestbook underneath the "Thanksgiving 2010" page. We packed everything up early evening and headed up to Justin's new home and had dessert, a bonfire, and fireworks! I think it was a hit. A hit enough to make it a bonfire tradition!

The family minus Breck...

Pretty much the cutest Thanksgiving salt and pepper shakers ever?

Oh yeah, we had hot dogs too...

I love the way Breck looks at Aunt Lindsay. His face always looks like he recognizes the fact that they have the exact same natural hair color and that she looks like she could be his Mom! Ha! And the picture of Gwama and Breck cuddling by the fire is just precious.

Sparklers...

Last Wednesday (day before Thanksgiving), We packed up and headed South for a few days. It was great to be able to spend about four days with my family. It makes the visit so much nicer when it's longer than a forty-eight hour stay. (Here's to my Love for using his Thanksgiving time off with his in-laws! Nah, they aren't those kind of in-laws, they love each other. :)  We were so glad that it worked out to bring Andrew along with us to Indiana so that he could be with a family on Thanksgiving. He had a good time and my family loved getting to know him. He felt very welcomed which was great to see! He's an amazing person!

First night upon arriving... (Take note: this never, ever happens to anyone, but once in a blue moon and only if you have Bearpo between his cheek and your chest! And Breck slept so well while we were at Mamaw and Papaw's house! Like... better than he sleeps at home! There must be something I'm missing and need to learn from both of Breck's Grandmas because he seems to sleep better for both of them when he's at their houses. :)

Breck's first Thanksgiving dinner! He was all about the dinner roll, sweet potatoes, and the corn casserole. He wasn't too keen on the texture of mashed potatoes. :)

Grandpa GG feeding Breck some puffs....

And how cute is he!?! He was so proud of his first cell phone, also known as his "bumble bee phone!" He got a jitterbug phone, but when he first mentioned something to my Mom about getting one, he said, "I think I wanna get me one of those bumble bee phones." HA! He's too cute! :)

Mom, Breck, and I headed out to Michaels for some black Friday deals. She has been wanting to make a Christmas monument saddle for my Grandma's headstone, so she was able to stock up on supplies to create it. She saved so much money by doing it herself too.

(If you are interested in having her make a custom headstone saddle (at a great price!) email me at amber@thebuckinghams.net and I will get you in contact with her. )

   Before...         and after....

That evening the whole family went out for dinner and bowling... Everyone had a blast!

And how much fun is it that Breck has an older cousin to pull him around in his pretend racecar?!?!

And a cousin that's just his age to crawl around with?!?! :) Isn't Brody handsome, or what!?!

For real. They were both sleeping here... too cute!?

We had so much fun visiting our friends! We hadn't seen them since Breck was a newborn so they saw a huge difference in him. They had some brand new books waiting for Breck when we got there! They are great! Love them and love how they love my baby!

She just adores him and couldn't stop taking pictures of him. (I know the feeling! :)

Guess who found Mamaw's Tupperware lids!?!?

Sunset view from my parent's backyard...

We had a fabulous Thanksgiving... so much to be thankful for! I enjoyed fall while it was here, but I'm so excited that it's beginning to look a whole lot like Christmas!
