[ this weeks loves ]

This happened yesterday. Cue: melting heart.
It's been happening more frequently lately... Breck will crawl up into my lap and let me rock him while I'm feeding Adelaide. We've even mastered nursing, rocking, cuddling, and reading books all at the same time!

I love to watch him love his sister.

You can usually see my water bottle within an arms reach of me at all times. I carry it EVERY where and drink a bazillion ounces of water a day. We've realized lately that after five months of watching me, Adelaide associates it with me. When she sees my water bottle, she nearly attacks it. No joke: she can drink out of it too! Not a fluke... it's the truth. My five month old has mastered the straw, even though she's breast-fed!

(Thanks for the pictures Daddy.
Mommy confiscates Daddy's iPhone all of the time now to use Instagram)

Might just be one of our favorite pictures of her in all of time.

We enjoyed a little bath-time artwork this week! The only challenge we had to master was resisting the urge to eat the shaving cream because Breck kept mistaking it for something sweeter.

Breck's feet are irresistibly edible when they are bare, but when he has these socks on... they are triply irresistible. There is just something about those navy and red stripes that I can't get enough of!

Tired boy...

Love my real-life baby doll! I swear she's already into girly things... she's attracted to shiny things; She notices and plays with my jewelry all of the time!

Daddy spied a deal online for a portable karaoke machine for Breck.  It auto-tunes your voice which makes for a very interesting song coming from a two year old. We love hearing him sing in it... makes us laugh every time! He does this thing where he will sing a string of Laa, Laa's and Lou, Lou's. Then he'll start throwing in names of family members! It's so funny!

Here's a video of him doing his thing...
(Be sure to pause the music at the bottom, first!)
(FYI... I can't stand the almost-country-song that plays on the machine in this video.
I don't do country!)

An amazing day for Mama is when crafting dominates nap time! It happened this week! Two hours of quiet, and a retreat down into my craft room! I come away feeling so inspired and there is nothing like having a new throw pillow and heart bunting for Valentines Day to spruce things up and make the living room feel fresh. Love!

I had a chance to craft some hair accessories for Lou during that nap too!

Love Sunday evening family walks!

Breck was completely enthralled with pulling Adelaide in the wagon. So much so, he got so upset at me if he saw me trying to push it and help him along! He'd demand that I stop pushing.

The only way we could convince Breck to ride along instead of steer, was to tell him how cold Adelaide was and that she needed Daddy to pull faster. She truly was cold, and getting sick of the Bumbo, and he gave in!

Loved this weekend and having Daddy home!
Looking forward to spending Valentines Day with him off of work too!

[ bringing out the memories . a second birthday ]

Backing up in time... these precious memories got tucked away during the hussle and bussle of the holidays, but I'm ready to pull them back out and and savor.

Laidey at 3 1/2 Months...

My. Absolute. Favorite.
(Just for the record, Mama made her hat! I love the cream with her ivory skin!)

Hello, Little Amber!

If I'm not holding her, Laidey isn't happy until she scans the room and locks eyes with me. Even then, I wouldn't describe her as "happy"...she just gives a look of momentary relief to know she has located me, and then follows a glare of,  Why are you wayyy over there? Hmm? She's got it bad for her Mama and the feeling is mutal! I can't kiss these cheeks enough!

Daddy says she is a daydreamer just like her Mama!

Hello, there little bookworm!

Who else would be able to find a aubergine tutu, but Aunt Holly?! :)

Hat + Tights... $0.75
Hospital crossover shirt, embellished by Mama... for FREE!
Tutu... gift from Aunt Holly
Red vinyl shoes... $1.00
Just might be the cheapest and (determined by Aunt Holly and Mama) cutest outfit EVER.

Big Bro had to jump in there too... a little jealously peek-a-boo-ed here!

She is so into her hands. And just a few days shy of turning five months, she's discovered her feet. If she can get to her tootsies and socks... I will frequently find her bare feet showing.

(We love our outfit, Patsy!)

These socks are irresistible!

Hat made by Mama, just for you, Laidey Lou!

And then this two year old!? Boy, does he have an imagination!

One day I walked in on him snugly tucking mr. man and duck in for a nap! He said "Mama! Duck seeping! Shhh!" He followed up with a goodnight kiss, of course!

He has been such a riot lately! BrettRyan and I repeat everything he does, and laugh about the adorable little things he says--, long after he's gone to bed, or even on a date night. He's such a joy! Here are some of the things we might hear from Breck an any given day:

(Taken on his 2nd birthday)

When you ask him a question or ask him where something is, he will quickly respond with a long exaggerated "Ummmmm???" while he is thinking, and then proceed to answer the question.

(Taken on his 2nd birthday)

When he is trying to tell us something or ask for something, once we finally determine what he is saying, he will say "K." and nod his head yes, followed by another "K!"

(Taken on his 2nd birthday)

He frequently pretends to grab his bags, put his hat on, and extend his goodbyes as he goes through the house opening and closing doors. "Bye-bye Dada. DAY! Bye-bye Mama. DAY!" We realized recently that he has picked up on Mama telling Dada goodbye in the mornings as I say "Bye Babe! I love you! Have a good day! Just this afternoon while we were at a taste test, I had to translate to all of the sweet waitresses that him yelling DAY! was his way of saying "Have a good day!" The ladies proceeded to melt all around his cuteness.

I frequently have the urge to eat him up when he wears this sweatshirt... it is one of my favorites!

He says "puuuuuushh" wether he is pushing or pulling something!

Folks, I'd like to add this hardly ever, I repeat - ever - happens, but when it does, we drop everything for his cuddles and hold the hug as long he he will let it go. And they are worth it.
(Taken on his 2nd birthday)

When we change his diaper or if he gets cold, he will pretend to shiver, laugh, and say
"Cooode, BeerrrrrrHerrrHerrr!"

And just incase we ever forget what he looked like when he threw a fit or got his grump on.... Bam!

He's got a little accent that tends to make an appearance in nearly every word his says... we're not exactly sure where this came from or what the accent is, but so far it sounds Russian to us. There's a part of me that hopes he never corrects the way he pronounces things!

Orengsh for Orange
Sasaah for Coffee (we have NO idea why he says it this way)
Rhed for Red
Ceereall for Cereal
Ohmeal for Oatmeal
Nnnn nnn for Mmmm mmm good
Pans for Pants
Hayer for Hair
Cirkey for Circle
Scares for Squares
Tiangee for Triangle
Kocorn for Popcorn
Git-choo for Get you
Happy to you for Happy Birthday to You!

And speaking of Happy Birthdays...
We had a happy birthday for our big two year old. During his naps on his birthday, I went in to get him out of bed... with lit candle in tow, singing Happy Birthday to Breck! He LOVED blowing out the candles... and the rest of the day he was bringing candles and lighters to me, begging me to sing "To you! To you!" so he could blow out the candle one more time.

The moment he turned two... 12:24pm

Coming right out of Christmas... he totally got the fact that he had "presssants" to open!

Birthday dinner... banana oatmeal pancakes with a schmear of "peanuh buddee"

We took a little reprieve from the party decorating to have a real snack on our pretend play plates under our top secret fort, built over our dining room table.

Breck agreed to let Sissy in... she knew the secret password.

The Party....

Mom, Dad, Holly, Aaron, Dylan, and Brody were all able to come up! It was so great to have them all here at the same time, and it was fun to be able to all stay in the same house! They were such a huge help to me the night before the party and the day of! Holly even stayed up until 2:00am helping me string paper airplanes and cotton balls from the ceiling!

I honestly didn't get good pictures during  his party, because between making the food,  getting everything placed just right, dodging toddlers, cleaning up spilled pop, and refereeing toddler fights over toys or Grandma's cane... I just didn't have a chance. But with eighteen people and seven kids... there was a lot going on!

Attempt #1: Adelaide not looking, but Breck sort of smiling mid sentence. Nice.

Attempt #2: Adelaide not looking, but at least facing forward, and Breck with his eyes closed mid sentence. Nice again.

Daddy did such a great job making Breck's cake and cupcakes!

He's become a professional at blowing out candles!

Long Distance Gifts
A few weeks ago, we got a very special gift in the mail (all the way from California)! Aunt Lynnie sent Adelaide her handmade baby blanket, baby book, and CD with three stories recorded in her voice as she reads them! So the kids will be able to follow along in the book while they listen to Aunt Lynnie read them a story! What a special surprise! We love them all!

Sledding
We finally got our "big" snow of the winter (lasted all of a few days!) and we had to take advantage of it to go sledding! Grammy, Poppa, and Nana came by to pick up Breck in their sled, and we took a tour of the complex ending back at Grammy and Poppa's for a nice warm hot cup of cocoa!

Nana and Poppa sure got a workout running Breck up and down this hill...
again, and again, and again!
