[ 1st birthdays, costumes, and everything in between ]

It's pretty sad that it's been so long since I blogged that we still were wearing our summer wardrobes and my girl looks different now than in the photos I'm about to post. But the last two months have been filled with a handful of significant distractions. :) So, better late than never....

September 2012

Picnics at the park...

Crayon making. Makes Daddy sick that Breck and I broke up perfectly flawless crayons to make these! Oooops. But we had a fun time!

Uncle Dave's Suprise 30th Birthday!

Stripes...

This face slays me.

She was only walking behind things and wouldn't walk on her own in these photos! My, how she's changed in a few months!

LOVED our nearly weekly Saturday morning traditions of fresh flowers on my dining room table post farmers market visits!

FINALLY we got to sneak away for a date night... Downtown GR.

Well, hello there, little blue gummy shark in the bottom of my drink. Happy Shark Week!

Love these moments...

Yes, sometimes we have streakers around here...

Her face kills me!

Love her shrug!

Big Girl Turned ONE on September 11th!

We have a candle-in-a-pear breakfast tradition.

Left: Laidey on her 1st birthday morning, Right: Breck on his 1st birthday morning

And we started a pancake tradition this year. Every year you get pancakes for breakfast or dinner in the shape of the number you're turning. This was Laidey's #1 that she enjoyed for dinner.

Hard to believe it's been a year since my sweet girl was born!

She totally dominates this car.

Her first birthday theme was cupcakes!

I went a little, well, a lot crazy with the cupcakes. My favorite was the tissue paper hot-glued into cupcake liners. SO easy, SO cheap and made a big impact. I'm happy to report I did not steal that idea from Pinterest, but created it all on my own. :)

We had healthy and not-so-healthy options. Carrot zucchini cupcakes with honey-cinnamon cream cheese frosting and chocolate cupcakes with buttercream frosting.

A special gift handmade my Nana Anna... So cute!!!

It's always so fun when my family is in town to visit because things like this happen...

And this...

And this! Mom and I usually make time for a craft during naptime when we're together.

Laidey began walking the week of her birthday!

So confident on her feet by this point!

Canning tomatoes with MomB!

October 2012
The Pumpkin Lady delivered once again! We ended up here on a whim on a day I didn't have my camera with me... big bummer. But the pumpkins and Grammy's camera phone made up for it.
Thanks for the photos Grammy!!

Seeing them in the wonder and beauty of fall - never gets old!

Fall entertaining is such a pain.  :)  NOT!

We had our first "family vacation" - not really a vacation because we were still going to an organized event, but it was quite a trip to be able to go somewhere and it just be the four of us! We decided we need to make these trips more of a priority... :)

Breck's first official parade! He always seems to get the stomach bug on July 4th... so the Cedarville University Homecoming parade was a novelty. He missed half of it because he was too consumed with fitting each piece of candy just perfectly into his pocket! :)

Mama's jealous of her outfits!

Staying in a hotel with these two sweeties was a trip! Yikes! But at least we had fun too. :)

Bananas for breakfast!

It amazes me how they can go from this...

to this... so quickly!

Ready for a trim and a bad hair day for B, but still such a cute expression on his sweet face!

Fresh hair cut thanks to Daddy-O!

Lou's first time in the mall play area... I think she enjoyed herself!

Veggie Tales family movie... A few Saturday mornings ago... our church put on a movie for any families and kiddos who wanted to come. Tickets were free but the only stipulation was you had to come dressed as a super hero, bring a blanket for your family to sprawl out on, and bring a canned item for the food pantry. :) Breck refused to wear this wig at first, but the only way I could get him to put it on was the fact that I promised him it would make people smile. So he obliged. :)

I love this new thinking face he does.

Veggie Tales... The Incredible Vegetables.

He kept calling himself "Increda-boy"

Our church thought through everything... we were greeted with bags of popcorn that were displayed in front of a red velvet curtain and dimmed lights. Our walk to the theatre was canopied by hundreds of balloons.

Even Lou enjoyed the popcorn

Once again, Mama scored big at our local church MOPS sale.
Couldn't resist this four potato head set and a plethora of parts...

She is so very into her baby dolls now. Kissing them and patting them while holding them close. She's saying "Baby" "Ball" and "Whooops"

I couldn't resist this dress either. On a side note, our new storm door is going to be a constant display of fingerprints now that they can see out!

Halloween 2012
The Farmer and his Cow...

Some things Mama's been enjoying lately to keep her sanity...
Crocheting roses for my girl's hats.

Refinishing/distressing old windows...

My new bamboo cutting board...
(You know you're a grown up when a cutting board makes you giddy about chopping veggies)

Breck... keeping the humor alive in our house. He's always cracking us up and this day in particular when I asked him to bring me a piece of toilet paper... he sure did just that. :)

Sewing some fall leggings to add to Laidey's wardrobe.

Finding pretend among the real... because it means someone has been using their imagination.

A beautiful rose from Daddy for our 4 year anniversary!
