Pinks.
The pink is flooding in and it makes my heart smile every time it catches me off guard. From Mamaw's random packages arriving in the mail, to garage sale bargains... it's so fun washing these clothes for our girl and hanging them up until they get pulled down again to be put on her! Every shade of pink I see is another reminder and the reality sinks in a bit farther that every little swoosh and tickle I feel inside is my little girl and in three and a half months we'll be meeting her! Love the colors I've been seeing in my laundry hampers for a change. I've never wore much pink myself, so this is definitely a new thing around here! It truly makes me pause every time I see pink in the laundry!
Lil sweetie has quite the shoe collection going already!
Blues.
I love it that I know my Love well enough that even after only five years of being together I can accurately predict him. As the weather warms up, and he's had time to be in the flower beds and landscaping around our house... I know that I will frequently find him just like this. He loves to go outside and stand out on our deck and just look around, look around at what he's accomplished, brainstorm landscaping visions, and dream. Everything about his body language though says... This is mine. This is ours. I'm the king and I'm quite proud of my little kingdom here. He looks big when he does it, like he's on guard. Like in the Titanic scene at the bow of the boat when Leo steps up on the very edge, throws his arms out and says... I'm the king of the world! Every time I see my honey in this stance... I nearly brace myself for him to straiten up, and rein-act the same scene. It makes me proud of him and what he does for our little growing family. Ooooh, that's my man!
And no surprise at all that the other source of blue hues in my life is my little man. He has been growing, comprehending and developing so much lately... I can't take him for granted. Every new thing he does is a reminder that he won't be this little for much longer. Time goes too quickly with this little dude. He nearly has a mouth full of teeth now. He's mastered using a spoon and feeding himself. He loves to drink out of any cup or mug that's been used by Mommy or Daddy! He totally tries his best to communicate, even though his only real words are still go, gog, and hot! He understands most everything we say to him! This blows me away sometimes! Last weekend he was on the deck and I was in the kitchen. He decided to open the screen door and let himself in. When he came into the house I asked him if he could please go back and shut the door. He immediately paused, looked at me with a look that said "Mommy, can you repeat that question?" I again said, Breck could you please go back and shut the door for Mommy? He turned around, went back to the door, and shut it just like I had asked him. I nearly fell over... I couldn't believe he understood what I had asked! We've never asked him to do that or explained what it means to shut the door. It's nearly scary how much he has picked up on! :) He waves, kisses, winks, and blows kisses all of the time now! And nearly always does it when asked. He automatically waves at any and every stranger he sees in public! It's so precious... that I can't resist when Mama Bear wants to come out of hiding and give a grumpy cashier or fellow customer an earful when they ignore my baby's greetings!
Oh, and another thing he's been so very into lately is... can't believe I'm gonna admit this: Barney. I always swore my kids would never watch Barney, but Grammy so graciously loaned us their Barney VHS tapes from when Nana Anna was little, and now I do have to admit I kind of like him. And there's NO question as to whether or not Breck likes him. He knows exactly how to open the door to the entertainment cabinet, and push in the tape by himself to make his little purple friend appear. Even though I always swore Barney to never have a place in my house, I have had a change of heart. :) The messages are innocent and good for them to take in. I mean how can you resist a catchy song that teaches your kid about manners, and never letting the water run when you're brushing your teeth!? The songs are so ridiculously catchy that I frequently find myself trying to get them out of my head. Every time I catch myself singing one of the songs... i think, wow, I'm singing Barney. I really am officially a Mom! One night this week BR and I were in bed. We'd been quiet for awhile and all of the sudden out of nowhere BR said, So what Barney song is stuck in your head? We both started busting out laughing uncontrollably! I had Never Let The Water Run stuck in my head and he had Magic Words in his head. Oooh the glamorous life of being parents... I wouldn't miss it for anything though!
See! He's got it down!
The boy loves him some corn!
He's absolutely obsessed with flushing the toilet, and waving goodbye as the water goes "bye-bye"
Obsessed.
Sunday was a day in the sun for us! Breck's friend Baby J and his parent's invited us to a White Caps ballgame! We had so much fun with them! Breck really got into the cheering and clapping when he heard the crowd go wild! It really was a fun time, but honestly the majority of the time was spent trading babies between Mamas and Daddies to appease the kiddos. It was HOT so thank goodness they had some super sweet tickets in the shade for us! And if it weren't for the Lemon Chills... we would have had to head out of there much earlier than we did. And that would have been early, because I'm talking... all six of us were packed up and heading out during the 4th inning! But it was fun indeed. :)
And to finish off the hottest day yet of our Spring or Summer, whichever season we're in... we had a cold DQ cone to cool down. I could have kicked myself that I didn't have my camera to catch Breck's very first ice cream cone, but at least I had my cell phone! Those are better than nothin. He enjoyed it, although I can't say that he enjoyed the mess much. The drips kind of paralyzed him in place and caused him to sit pretty still while he finished. He was more than obliged to let us clean him up and dunk him in the bath when we got home.
What a fun summery weekend we had! Our pool is opening this Friday and I can hardly stand it! Can't wait! Off to scoop the boy up from his nap and start dinner.
Ps. I've got to get some pregnancy pictures taken tonight! Our baby girl is 24 weeks old this week and we've got to photograph her growing!
