Facebook
I can't honestly say that I don't miss this all to familiar little blue log-in screen. I'm doing well without my addiction and enjoying crossing more items off my to-do list, spending more time with my boy, and overall seeing my computer screen a lot less. (Even though facebook can be out of sight, out of mind, I do miss "checking in" on my out of town family and seeing their status updates, but hey, that's what the phone is for, right?!)
My inspiring, hero-friend and fellow Ex-Facebookie included this in her e-mail to me today and I totally get it. I can relate, I really can. And one day... I look forward to not constantly thinking in facebook-status-stream-of-consciousness. My fellow Ex-Facebookie puts it brilliantly: "I am just now getting out of the habit of making up new status updates in my head... FINALLY!
Without time-consuming Facebook, I'm becoming booky and I love it. I've been reading more lately and I can already sense my slow reading skills beginning to pick up the pace. I seem to turn pages more frequently, and this book in particular... already I can't put it down. I began reading it about a year or so ago... picked it up on a whim at the library simply because the cover caught my eye. I despise those library due dates and I would end up renewing it five times at the rate I read, so I never finished it... I was elated when I found out it was March book pick for book club!

A Weekend To Remember
Breck was still an infant when BrettRyan told me he purchased tickets for us to go to the Family Life Weekend to Remember Marriage Conference in March 2011. My initial feelings were We don't need that! Does he secretly feel like our marriage is struggling? I don't want to leave my baby, granted the conference is next-year and my baby will be a year old by then, but still.
Fast forward to now. Oh, baby... I'm ready to go! I am by no means looking forward to missing two nights of tucking my precious boy in, and leaving him behind. But BrettRyan and I are so very much looking forward to a weekend away and a major chunk of time cut out to solely focus on just the two of us... with no distractions. I'm lucky to be assured that my boy will be in good hands... hands that will spoil him and love on him. Hands that never fail to text me when my little sweetie has successfully arrived in the Land of Nod. Hands of a fellow Momma who knows how relieving it is to be able to focus on the task at hand, with the assurance of knowing her boy is safe, happy, and peacefully dreaming away. I love that about my mom-in-law... she always, always keeps me in the loop on how the boy is doing and occasionally texts me pictures of my boy having fun.
I always pack baby boy's suitcase up first... somehow I feel better if focus on his things and make sure to check the list four, five times just to be sure he's covered and every instance is thought through. Rubby ducky and favorite bath toys: check. Elmo toothbrush and toothpaste: check. Plenty of diapers: check. Three outfits: check. Two sleepers: check.
Love the thought of a date weekend with my boy, my best friend, my fiance, my boyfriend, my husband. Would I love to go get a new outfit for the event? Yes. But since that's not really necessary and I'm in that my-normal-jeans-are-too-tight-but-my-maternity-pants-are-too-big stage that it would be pointless to purchase any new clothing right now, but I got my ruffles and my jewels, so I'm good to go.
Dessert: check. I've packed a little dessert for us to enjoy while we're gone. Chocolate covered strawberries and I went crazy dipping our latest favorite clementines in chocolate too, because who can resist chocolate and citrus orange flavors melded together. Mmm.
Looking forward to some us time, sleeping at the Amway Grand Hotel, learning how to better love my husband, and I'm most certainly going to enjoy locking eyes with my little boy's blues once again at the end of the weekend. That will be a sweet reunion.
