[ where has my baby gone ]

There is one question that seems to just keep repeating in my mind lately, and that is... What happened to my baby? I seriously feel like we've gone from baby to toddler in two months flat and the boy isn't even a year old yet! Isn't he technically considered a baby for a quite a while yet?  I swear it was just yesterday I was pureeing food for the sweetie, and now he has a mixture of mashed or cut-up homemade food and table food. I'm talking, the kid can handle a string cheese by himself. The most self-controlled little bites I've ever seen a baby take. None of the all-at-once-face-stuffing action that you'd expect a baby to naturally do. I can't believe how much he has developed just within the last week and a half. He's become so vocal... blowing some extreme raspberries, chanting "Dada," teasing us, pulling himself up, standing in his crib, walking behind a toy walker (he started this all by himself, we never told him to move one foot and then the other, he just started it all by himself), and communicating preferences! Sunday night was his first night with a non-family-member-babysitter! Ahh! Good thing Mommy loves Miss Shari! Miss Shari said that when he got hungry he just crawled into the kitchen and started his little "hungry grunt." It cracks me up and amazes me at the same time that he thought through how to communicate to his caregiver that he was hungry, and that's the plan he came up with. Hey, it worked! :) Here are some of the latest pictures of him and new new endeavors!

He loves his breakfast pears...

And cheddar cheese rice cakes are our new favorite snacks...

And just a few days shy of his 10 month milestone... he's pulling himself up and standing for long periods of time! It's so fun to watch him develop!

Gwama being the "spotter"

Grandma is always so good to grab the camera and snap a few of Mommy and Breck! She has been there and knows that if somebody doesn't do it... there will be very few pictures of Mama and baby in the years to come.  Because let's face it, it's always the Mama snapping away memories.
Loving this one she captured!

I can hardly believe my baby is going to be ten months old tomorrow! He is such a joy to have in our lives. I am so thankful that God chose BrettRyan and I to be his parents. What an incredible responsibility we have, and I am honored. Even on the worse of days, Breck lights up my life. He can always bring a smile to my face. His smiles heal.
Love you Breck Reid!
Love Forever and For Always, Mama

Ps. On a random side note, i'm vowing to myself right now, that if I ever have leftover pumpkin again, i will duplicate our dinner tonight every time we do. I threw a little extra pumpkin I had left over from pumpkin bread today into some pancake batter along with some cinnamon and nutmeg. Oh. my. word. And to make it just a little more like Heaven, I crumbled up some cinnamon apple chips and sprinkled them on top. Goodness sakes! Do it. You won't feel disappointed!

[ trick.or.treat ]

Somebody found Gramma's estate-sale-stamp-stash! He could sit there for hours just going through all the stamps... it was precious. He was wide-eyed the whole time!

We had a great time at Mom and Dad Buckingham's on Halloween! There was lots of warm chili, pumpkin carvings, pumpkin guts, laughs, babies, Honeycrisp apples, and carmel dip. Yum.

Caught him in mid-wink.

Mr. Creative brainstorming...

We had lots of fun carving pumpkins! Most of us kids (aka parents now) were able to find time in the midst of sleeping, napping, fussy, and happy babies to get a little pumpkin carving on.

And boy, did we deliver.

Buddies!

And now, for the Breck's first Halloween costume!
Drum roll, please........................................

We have a..... LION! Roaaaaaarrr!

Gramma, Poppa, and Breck Reid!
(Mama did pack socks for Breck, but they somehow got missed when putting on the costume. Lion tails and drawn-on-lion-whiskers are much more important!)

She's not proud or anything... :)

Breck (9 months) and Maxon (8 months)

Great Grams and Gramps with the boys. The boys were pretty much done by this point.

BrettRyan's (Left) & Amber's (Right)
(Look how creative my man is! His pumpkin is awesome! And then there's my poor attention-deficit-disorder-pumpkin-carving-attempt. I got a little out of control with the lemon zester on my pumpkin's face and it looks like it skid it's face on the pavement!)

Ps. I saved the pictures from Breck's trick.or.treat to Mamaw and Papaw's house and was going to include them on this post when we "revealed" his costume, but wouldn't you know, they are on my hard drive with the rest of the ten thousand pictures that are being compromised right now.
As soon as I get them back, I'll post!
